iPod Obsessions: February 2011

  • “20 Years” and “Poison and Wine” by The Civil Wars
  • “Don’t Carry It All” by The Decemberists
  • “Baby, All Those Girls Meant Nothing to Me” and “Marigold” by David Lowery
  • “White Winter Hymnal” by Fleet Foxes – I’ve got tickets for their Boston show. Perfect song for sitting inside during this endless snowy winter.
  • “All Delighted People” by Sufjan Stevens – At over 11 minutes, this is a long song and took awhile to grow on me.
  • “Wait So Long” by Trampled by Turtles – This is new genre of music for me: “slamgrass”
  • “I Died So I Could Haunt You” by Stars – This song really hit me when I saw Stars at the Tiny Desk Concert at NPR.
  • “Vultures” by Nicole Atkins – Just discovered her and did a review on Tues.
  • “Impossible Germany” by Wilco
  • “The Mountain” by Heartless Bastards
  • “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” by Brandon Flowers
From the Vault:

  • London Calling (the whole album) by The Clash
  • “Barrel of a Gun” by Guster
  • “Let the Truth Sting” by David Gray – A great bitter tune from his first album
  • “Winter Song” by Crash Test Dummies – I’ve always liked the lyrics to this song, esp. during this season.
  • “Begin the Begin” and “These Days” by R.E.M. – Love the 1-2 punch of these two rockers from Life’s Rich Pageant
  • “This Is the Day” by The The
  • “Scatterlings of Africa” by Juluka
