Monday Musings: Dale Carnegie in China; Consumer Reports "Best Beer"; Writing Group Publication; Scott Brown's Daughter


First, some very exciting news from my writing group: one of them had a story accepted and published online by Atticus Review: http://atticusreview.org/my-own-particular-destruction/. The media is making a big deal about how U.S. Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) paid his daughter to perform at campaign events. I'm afraid I don't see what the big deal is: the campaign paid her and her band something like $9K for three events. That's certainly not excessive for professional musicians and they've been completely above-board about it. Sometimes we take the search for scandal way too far. No wonder good candidates don't want to run for office. 

Guess how Dale Carnegie’s famous “How to Win Friends and Influence People” is translated in China: “The Weaknesses of Human Nature.” Now what does THAT say???
